Dr. Ogho Okiti is the current Managing Director of BusinessDay Media Limited, publishers of BusinessDay Newspaper – West Africa’s leading provider of business intelligence and market moving news.

Prior to his appointment into the current position, he functioned as the Founder and CEO of Time Economics, a communications, economics and strategy consulting firm, based in Abuja. Over the past 5 years he facilitates a monthly economics- and business-focused Breakfast Meeting at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja – an event that attracts senior government officials, top private sector participants and members of the diplomatic corps.

Dr. Okiti had previously worked in BusinessDay from 2007 to 2012, during which he served as the Chief Economist and the Chairman of Editorial Board. Also an Op-ed writer, his writings cover the intersection of economics, business, strategy and political economy. He has penned over three hundred newspaper articles.

Before his first stint at BusinessDay he spent two years at the UK Office for National Statistics (ONS) in London, where he worked on the improvements of measures of government output on social security, and adult and children’s social services.

Dr. Okiti also has a rich public service experience. From January 2012, he served in the Presidency as a special assistant to the Chief Economic Adviser to the President.  Over three years, he developed his closest relationship with public policy making and a good section of other public policy makers, both in Nigeria and internationally. In this role, he developed the critical understanding of the dynamic and integrated nature of policy-making, implementation and evaluation in an environment that not only involves, but also brings together heterogeneous activities. In addition, he coordinated the Office’s secretariat of Nigeria’s hosting of the World Economic Forum (WEF) on Africa in 2014.

He received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Manchester in 2003. His postdoctoral experiences revolved around research, public policy, public policy commentary and providing public policy advice.
